Are You Being Served

The Director

Candida Wright

Director’s Comments:

I have only admiration for my entire cast, my Stage Manager, the Sound and Lighting Directors of whom many performed in and worked on our recent (even though I say it myself) hit show, The Lion King. Everyone has worked hard to fit in rehearsals and build, paint and titivate the set whilst perfecting lines and costumes. What a team including our Bar and Front of House people.

Thank you.

Richard Herriott; Mr. Mash / Don Bernado

Richard Herriott

After playing the night club manager in “The Full Monty”& the colonel in “Allo Allo” Richard now has the role of the odd job man in act one & the hotel owner in act two and so we get two for the price of one!!

Paul Young; Mr Rumbold

Paul YoungThis is Paul’s 9th production with Careline and sadly his last as he’s moving on to a new job in Pinoso, Alicante. He thanks everyone for their support over the last 3 years and says, “It’s been a blast”!. All of us at Careline will really miss him.

Mandy Hazard; Miss Brahms
Mandy HazzardThis is Mandy’s first play since leaving high school in 1989 in South Africa. After living all round the world, she has now settled in the Jalon Valley and is loving and living her life with new dreams and directions.
Ian Bennett; Mr Lucas
Ian Bennett

Ian just can’t stay away. The Chance to Play Mr Lucas had him smiling from the first audition, through the rehearsals and to tonight’s show. A Cheeky Charming Chap, and that’s just the character!!

Mick Nial; Mr Grainger

Mick NialMick joined Careline two years ago after we helped the association SCAN that he volunteers for to put on an “Old Time Music Hall” for fund raising. As Mr Grainger he probably has more entrance exits than anyone, “Oh damn”!

Denis Arthurs; Captain Peacock
Denis Arthurs

After being involved with Careline Theatre for the past twelve years, it’s come to this, playing Captain Peacock from a television series Dennis remembers watching as a fledgling Drama teacher in the 1970s. Feel ‘free’ to reminisce about what days used to be like!

Linda Arthurs; Mrs Slocomb
Linda Arthurs

Yet another role requiring a special wig: from Edith in ‘Allo, AIlo’and the Spirit of the Greenwood in ‘Robin Hood’ toMrs. Slocombe’s magnificent hairpiece! Linda hopes she has channelled her inner Mrs. Slocombe.. and she’s unanimous in this! Watch out for a guest appearance from her pussy!

Stevie Keen; Mr Humphries

Stevie KeenThough new to Careline, Stevie is no newcomer to the stge. He trained at Mountview Theatre School in the 80’s and then worked professionally as an actor and dancer for many years. Stevie is a whizz at creating props and unusual costumes so it’s a bonus to have him with us.

Suzanne Mace; Nurse / Conchita
Suzanne Mace

Suzanna has been appearing on stage since the age of two. As a professional dancer and Careline’s choreographer you will usually find her in that guise. On this occasion she has transformed into Conchita the Spanish señorita. Ole!

Sue Bycroft; Customer / Teresa
Sue Bycroft

Sue joined Careline a Year ago and walked into the part of Michelle, “I will say this only once” in ‘Allo  Allo’ Once again to battle she plays a revolutionary but she just won’t let go of the wig!!

Malcolm Macintosh; Customer
Malcolm Macintosh

Amanda has a rich theatre and musical background having worked as a singer in cabaret, musical theatre and drama productions in Spain and in the Uk She has produced and directed many shows and may be remembered locally for performances in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Evita’, the one woman professional production of ‘Tell me on a Sunday’ as well as ‘Calendar Girls’ and ‘39 Steps’. Alan Gill; Young Mr Grace
Alan Gill

Since Private Godfrey in ‘Dad’s Army’ as Alan gets older so do the characters he plays - first time he’s had to be wheeled on stage though.

Andy Crabb; Cesar
Andy Crabb

Andy has been involved, in one way or another, with more than sixty-five Careline Productions, one-act-plays, pantomimes or farces. He has played many roles, but his favourites are the pantomime crackpots on the lunatic fringe. This tells us a bit about the man himself, unfortunately!
