Careline Kids

Careline Kids is our younger section of the group and they meet regularly on a Saturday morning at the Theatre in Alcalali. They are under the leadership of Lee Walker.

Lee started his acting career at the age of 18 when he joined the Italia Conti Stage School in London. He went on to work for over thirty years in all aspects of the profession, with over a hundred T.V. appearances and commercials to his name and appearing in and directing numerous theatre productions including several west end plays. Lee worked for five years at the Lady Elizabeth Senior School as a drama teacher and it was during this time that he was invited to start a junior drama workshop for the Careline Theatre Company to encourage local children to become involved in all aspects of theatre. This has been a tremendous success with a membership of over forty students, many going on to appear in the Careline adult productions. Accepting the role of Careline Kids Director of Drama is one that Lee takes very seriously.

“I think it is very exciting and a challenge. My acting classes will be designed to inspire confidence in young people to believe in themselves, develop their own individual personalities, but appreciate the importance of teamwork. For the advanced students, we shall examine some of the more subtle aspects of the profession. What is the difference between working on stage, or in front of cameras? Audition and interview techniques, agency representation etc. Above all, the classes should be lots of fun. Hopefully I shall be able to pass on some of the theatrical magic that has inspired me from the beginning of my thoroughly enjoyable career.”

Lee Walker.
